Starling Health Collective offers individual psychological therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Sessions are available in person at our Moonee Ponds practice (Practicing from the Journey Health Solutions' office) as well as via secure telehealth, allowing flexibility and continuity of care.  Chilli (the therapy dog) attends most sessions to support emotional grounding and break up the intensity of therapy.

Our approach prioritises understanding the whole person—their history, values, relationships, and current life—and working together to identify a treatment plan that feels both effective and manageable. Therapy may integrate trauma- or attachment-informed approaches, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or somatic approaches alongside other evidence-based interventions.

Alice offers therapy for the following:

  • Trauma and PTSD (including complex, attachment and developmental trauma)

  • Managing chronic medical conditions including pain and somatic disorders

  • Anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, health anxiety)

  • Depression and mood difficulties

  • Adjustment difficulties and life transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Low self-esteem, shame, and self-criticism

  • Attachment-related relationship issues

  • Perfectionism and high-functioning anxiety

  • Obsessive-compulsive symptoms

Psychological Therapy

Clinical Psychology/individual Therapy

You can access individual therapy with or without a referral from your GP or Psychiatrist.  The first session usually involves Alice asking questions about your life, background, family and relationships, getting a full understanding of why issues may be presenting for you now and how best to move forward.  After that, we formulate a plan for treatment based evidence based therapies and your goals and values.

Alice works primarily with Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), however uses other modalities as indicated and preferred by clients, including narrative therapy, somatic therapy, CBT and CPT.

Intensive EMDR therapy

An EMDR Therapy Intensive offers an accelerated form of treatment, providing a series of focused sessions within a condensed timeframe. It allows individuals to gain a quick improvement in psychological wellbeing without the drawn out process of weekly or fortnightly sessions over 3-6 months.  For some people this allows for rapid emotional healing and an efficient way to access therapy without constant interruptions to life or feeling unsteady whilst traumas remain 'open'.

Research suggests that Intensive EMDR is just as effective in resolving PTSD, complex PTSD and attachment concerns as standard EMDR but it is more efficient.  It reduces the need for check-ins, crisis management and closures and allows more focus within sessions.  Intensives can be run over a 1-2 day format or 1-2 weeks.
